Marta Gwizdowska is technical artist who primarily focuses on Realism work. I love her use of colours and shading, and her works are happy and positive. With each new piece I’m blown away! She recently posted a piece of Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad film and it’s absolutely stunning. She’s an emerging artist and I can’t wait to see what she’s going to do in the future.
1. Where are you from?
From Poznan, a city in western Poland.
2. What got you interested in doing art?
Art and passion for painting I had from an early age. As long as I remember I loved to paint and create. I won many artistic competitions. I finished art school. Then I had around a 10 year break from painting - I finished university. I had my son. I worked in many places and then the passion came back into my life. I am painting for a few years now and can't imagine my life without it.
3. What role do artists have in today's society?
The artist gives people beauty, magic, originality, wonder. It is very important that a human looks at the world through the child's eyes and is able to see all the beauty around us and many wonders. People should motivate each other to make the world better.
4. What themes do you try to show in your work?
I paint everything which interests me at the moment and feels close to me. Mainly I paint people, portraits, especially feminine portraits.
5. What other jobs have you had besides being an artist?
I work at Reception in the Children's Hospital. Besides that I am the mother of a very active seven year old boy. Multiple duties don't leave me much time to paint. Every free minute I spend on my passion.
6. What do you dislike about your work? What are you most proud of?
Like many other artists, I am not always happy with my work and many times I feel it could be improved. But I think that that is a good feeling as I want to develop myself.
7. What's your superpower and why?
I don't think I have any superpowers. I am just a human.
8. I really love "My Love Part 1". What was the entire creative process for this piece?
This work presents a very happy time in my life. This painting shows my love full of passion, bright colours and feelings. Although I made it a long time ago, and my work has turned towards hyper-realism, I still really like this picture. It hangs in my house in a very special place.
9. What is the hardest part of the human body to paint?
Interesting question... While I am painting I never think that a particular part is difficult to paint as I just do it. But actually after giving more thought I realize that the hands are most difficult. It is quite hard to show proportions and shadows.
10. How have you grown as an artist over time?
As a child I used to paint princesses for my girlfriends and now I paint feminine portraits so maybe not that much changed.. Ha ha I'm joking!
To be serious, I think that life is a road. I grow as a human and I grow as an artist. They mirror life and life is as beautiful as art. I appreciate every day and enjoy all the beauty every day. My experiences make me grow as an artist.
11. What has been your biggest challenge as an artist?
I don't treat my passion as a challenge. I am just trying to be better.
12. Do you prefer Oreo or Fudgee-O cookies, or some other cookie altogether different?
I love all sorts of sweets. Oreo, Fudgee-o cookies. All biscuits are delicious.
